Maxton is primarily a salmon beat but has had good runs of grilse and sea trout through the summer months. This very attractive beat has considerable potential. It is run on a family syndicate basis and tenants are expected to be friendly and help each other.
There are four named pools on the Maxton beat. Three of the named pools are fished by wading and the other can be easily reached from the bank depending on the height of water.
There is no ghillie and it is strongly recommended that a wading pole and buoyancy device are used when wading.
