West Learmouth is two-thirds of a mile of the south bank just above Cornhill-on-Tweed and is fished by two rods. Almost all of the water is usable, and with the deep water on the Learmouth side, most of the fish are quite close in.
The beat fishes best in medium to low waters and there is a good arrangement with the opposite beat whereby the two best pools, Learmouth Stream and Back of the Wall, alternate each date on an am/pm basis. This way there is no opposition on either of these pools.
