The Tweed Foundation is delighted to be attending the Fin & Game Open Day in Kelso on Saturday 26 July, running from 11am to 8pm.
We’ll be there to share our work across the Tweed catchment — from conservation projects to education and youth angling through TweedStart.
Casting demonstrations and tuition on the Tweed next to Kelso Bridge with Jim Fearn, Simon Gawesworth and Jim Curry.
Plus top gear brands like Patagonia, YETI, RIO, Sage, and Guideline. (Booking required for river sessions).
During the day learn about tactics, techniques, and the latest developments in fly fishing and river conservation. Ed Browning from Patagonia, Jack Aitken from YETI, and representatives from Guideline, Sage, and RIO in-store, offering tailored advice, new product insights, and assistance with your setup.
The Tweed Foundation team will be in store at 3pm and 6pm sharing our latest work and how your support is making a difference.
3pm Ben McCallum, in-store talk and Q&A session. TweedStart is the Tweed Foundation’s angling initiative, aimed at inspiring the next generation of anglers. It’s designed to equip participants with the skills and confidence to fish rivers and stillwaters on their own. Join us to learn more about TweedStart, hear from some of our young Ambassadors, and find out how you can get involved.
6pm James Hunt, Lead Biologist at the Tweed Foundation, will present the current challenges of Tweed salmon and Sea trout – research and management of an endangered species”. This will be an open session where James will provide an overview of some of the most interesting and relevant work being carried out by the Tweed Foundation and how this is being translated into management, followed by questions from the audience.
After a packed day of talks and demos, we’re closing the day in true Fin & Game style — with an evening social in the shop. From 6.30 pm, join us for a relaxed get-together with drinks, food, and the chance to catch up with ghillies, guests, speakers, and friends from across the fishing community.
