The Tweed Foundation caught up with the Gala Waterways Group and the Gala Policies Regeneration Group on the Mossilee Burn at Galashiels.

During the morning they collected timber and debris from the burn so it does not end up in the trash screens which protects the culverts from flooding into the town. Scottish Borders council were clearing the burn a few weeks ago and the Gala Waterways Group is removing wood out of the burn into the wood to rot down to create habitat.

Alistair Lings pointed out discharges from a service water sewer which included wipes, paper, etc. It had been reported to SEPA again on the morning the group attend. Scottish Water arrived at the burn as volunteers were leaving. They removed the muck from the surface water sewer and informed the group that they would return on Monday to investigate further.
