Following a successful launch and strong public interest at the 2026 Tweed Salmon Festival at Schloss Roxburghe, the first edition of RiverLife Journal is now available through a dedicated Crowdfunder campaign supporting the Tweed Foundation’s TweedStart education programme.
The 82-page publication celebrates the people, wildlife, heritage and conservation of the River Tweed through community-written stories, photography, interviews and features exploring life along one of the world’s most iconic salmon rivers.
Written, photographed and edited by members of the river community and sponsored by Loop Tackle, RiverLife Journal was created as a fundraising initiative, with monies raised supporting TweedStart and its work connecting young people and communities with the river Tweed through hands-on learning and environmental education.
The journal includes features on Atlantic salmon conservation, fly fishing heritage, Tweed weaving traditions and local river culture, alongside personal stories from anglers, ghillies, boatmen, photographers and conservationists.
TweedStart delivers a range of educational and outreach initiatives across the Tweed catchment, including Fish in the Classroom, Go Wild for Fish, introductory fly fishing sessions, TweedStart Plus and Dynamic Youth Award opportunities.
Jamie Stewart, Director of the Tweed Foundation said:
“The response to RiverLife Journal at the Tweed Salmon Festival was incredibly positive. We are delighted that the organisers have now made the publication available through Crowdfunder, giving more people the opportunity to support TweedStart and help connect future generations with the River Tweed.”
The journal was first launched during the 2026 Tweed Salmon Festival and is now available through Crowdfunder in support of TweedStart. Supporters making a donation will receive a copy of the first edition while limited copies remain available.
