A Local Business Is Giving Back to Conservation and Young Anglers
Kelso, Scottish Borders – 19th February – Upcycled Waders, a sustainable local business based in Kelso, is proud to announce its support for TweedStart, the education arm of the Tweed Foundation, by donating 25% of its profits to help inspire and educate the next generation of anglers.
Upcycled Waders specialises in handcrafted, eco-friendly products made from leaky, unusable waders that would otherwise go to landfill. By transforming these materials into practical and stylish new items, the business promotes sustainability while directly contributing to conservation and education efforts on the River Tweed.
Charlie Brownlow, Co-founder of Upcycled Waders, expressed:
"Fishing has been a part of my life since I caught my first salmon at 10, and as a parent, I know how important it is to pass on skills and conservation values. Supporting TweedStart through Upcycled waders allows us to help young people connect to the river. Everything we create is upcycled right here in the Scottish Borders, ensuring craft, employment and conservation stay local."
Jamie Stewart theTweed Foundation added:
"We are incredibly grateful for Upcycled Waders' support. Their commitment not only helps reduce waste but also makes a meaningful contribution to funding TweedStart’s educational initiatives, ensuring young people have the opportunity to connect with the river, learn about conservation, and develop a lifelong passion for fishing."
TweedStart provides hands-on fishing experiences, river education programs, and conservation activities for young people, helping them develop essential skills while fostering an appreciation for the Tweeds natural heritage. The partnership with Upcycled Waders will provide valuable resources to support these initiatives, making a lasting impact on the community and the future of the River Tweed.
Upcycled Waders are encouraging anglers to donate their old, irreparable waders by reaching out directly. Every upcycled product sold not only helps reduce waste but also supports young anglers and conservation efforts along the River Tweed."
