Volunteer for Riparian Tree Planting

Riparian tree planting plays a vital role in improving the health of our rivers and streams. Trees provide natural shade that helps keep water temperatures cool – something increasingly important for the wellbeing of fish like Atlantic salmon, trout, and grayling. Their leaf litter also feeds the river’s nutrient cycle, supporting the insects, plants, and wildlife that depend on healthy waterways.

Each year, planting locations vary across the Tweed catchment to match specific habitat needs. Whether it’s stabilising banks, restoring shade cover, or enhancing biodiversity, every project brings long-term benefits to the river and its surrounding landscape.

Tree planting days are a fantastic way for individuals and corporate groups to get involved, make a tangible difference, and meet other people who share a passion for the environment and our rivers.

We’re currently looking for volunteers to help us plant trees. If you’d like to join us or find out more, please get in touch with Erica at the Tweed Foundation:
