Even with challenging conditions, Tweed was the top-performing river in Scotland.

The result, despite the river being full of fish, was 170 online as compared to 604 the week before.  In terms of whole river catch, last week might have made it to 250 salmon, whereas the week before would have been over 800.

Even with challenging conditions, Tweed was again the top-performing river in Scotland.

Lower Birgham

A strange week on the river with us this last week. Still seeing loads of fish, mostly older fish, including some fresher ones, throughout most of the pools. There was a change, maybe it was the blistering sun or the rising river temperature, but whatever it was it surely put the fish off. We saw fish and thought if they came on ‘the take’ there’s enough to have a pretty epic day. But it just didn’t happen and it wasn’t from a lack of trying! We still landed a few fish, but after the last few week's catches, one can't help but be a little disappointed. Looking to next week there’s a drop in temperature forecast and even some rain, so who knows it could be the trigger we’re looking for to kick-start the fish in the system. We will just have to wait and see.

Carham

A week of two halves. Bright sunshine and a lack of wind on Monday and Tuesday made fishing conditions challenging. With low cloud cover from Wednesday, rods started to catch salmon, with fish ranging from 12 to 14lb, and this trend continued through to Saturday, which also included a sea trout.  Most successful fly this week has been a small black head Francis, fished with floating lines or a hover sink 1 line with short tips with a slow sink tip or intermediate tip.

Boleside

A tricky week with low water levels and warm temperatures. However, Paul Saunders and his party gave it a great effort. We had 2 salmon on Tuesday, 1 for Paul and a first ever fish for James Souslby, a 14lber from Netherbarns on a small black and yellow tube. Later in the week catches picked up.  Nick Lane caught our 99th and 100th fish of the season on a size 10 Ally Shrimp. Both expertly netted by his dad Stan. With the water continuing on a summer low it will be another testing week, anglers need to change tactics and fish to the conditions.
